We Marched on Washington, and we're still going.

And it was cold. My body ached. But my heart was so warm. I was so touched by the numbers and grateful to be a part of this historical event. I met a woman who traveled from my home state, California, just to be a part of the Women's March in D.C., how amazing is that? People were so kind and gracious. I felt safe to know that everyone was marching globally and together. No one was alone.

I've never felt compelled to explain why I marched, it should be simple: I'm a woman, who was raised by a single mother (at the time) and five older sisters. I never struggled, never suffered, never depended on those who weren't the women surrounding me because they provided me with everything that I needed. My mother never showed weakness, so I marched for the countless hours she worked to keep me happy. I marched because she sat at every football game for four years in a row to watch me cheer in high school, even though she was more interested in the game than in me. I marched because I have five sisters who would rush to the bank to send me money when I was in dire need of a meal because I spent my last at Rick's the night before. These are just some of my favorite reasons and my list can go on but if you didn't march, I'm sure you had your reasons too.

We brought out more numbers than this year's iNAHguration and that's real facts, not the alternative ones. Since Trump has been in office, the craziness hasn't let up. I find myself getting overwhelmed and frustrated easily. So many news outlets to follow, so many sources claiming to be experts; watch what you read and choose to believe! I'm working on that myself.

As we continue to educate ourselves, If you want to continue the fight, visit the Women's March site and participate in the 10 Actions Campaign! Also, enjoy my favorite photos from the march. You're welcome.

BUT HONESTLY, STRANGER THINGS TOOK THE DAMN CAKE:

XOXO + a prayer,

Mich.

P.S. A special birthday shout out to my oldest sister, Sheiki! I love you momma number two :)
