My 2016 at a glance!

IT'S FINALLY TIME TO SAY GOODBYE TO TWENTY- SIXTEEN AND I MUST ADMIT, THIS WAS A ROUGH ONE.

It's so crazy how much you can learn about yourself through your interactions with others. This year more than any other year, I have learned about myself, my limits, my patience and my emotions. My emotions throughout this year were like déjà vu. I felt these same emotions during my final days at Cordova High School, as I deciding to attend MSU. I wasn't running. I was coincidentally losing all ties to relationships that would have rather affected my otherwise decision to stay. I saw it as a sign in 2011 and again this summer before I decided to move to Washington D.C. Moving to a new state does something for me. That feeling of a fresh start is more motivating than anything and just as I was proud of my decision back then, I'm even more proud of my decision now. Only difference is I'm older and wiser, so cheers to that.

I started off this year with a lot less confidence then what I'm walking out with now. Self- worth and motivation is detrimental at this age. In our early twenties, fresh out of college, we have to believe in ourselves and that's all I began to do. I started loving myself more, embracing every single emotion, started tackling my goals and took my time to heal. I'm so use to moving on quickly, but I finally got over being uncomfortable with being vulnerable. That was important for me to embrace this year. So again, cheers to that! What did you learn about yourself this year? Yes, I really want to know! Despite these much needed revelations I discovered about myself, 2016 wasn't all serious, I had plenty of time for the fun stuff.

HERE ARE SOME OF MY FAVORITE MOMENTS FROM 2016:

I got to spend my Spring break in Louisiana and I met Bourbon St. and the French Quarters for the very first time! See you again for Mardi Gras 2017 Bourbon <3.

I got to co- chair my first Crimson and Creme Scholarship Ball alongside my personal, Kimberly Arnold! I love my sorority and planning this event was always a dream of mine. Even though I was nervous throughout the entire process, I was so proud of myself and my committee for all the work we did but honestly, the Old Town Marquee was a beautiful venue before we even laid a finger on it.

Graduating from Michigan State University with my mom present and witnessing my best friends do the same! *Insert Black Girl Magic here*

I won't share a photo of this one (because I didn't take any during this time, thankfully) but getting my tonsillectomy really changed my life! When I moved to the midwest, I got sick a lot and tonsillitis had taken over my body for quite some time now. After a lot of strep throat and tears, I parted ways with my tonsils and I couldn't be more happy about it!

Touring the White House Gardens...then touring the White House to see the wonderful Christmas decor! I am so honored to have been able to walk these halls while Obama is still in office. I will remember these tours forever.

I can go on and on, but I have to be the utmost grateful to the Urban Institute. About three months into living in D.C. and I secured a full time position in my field.  Those were just a few and I hope this sparked some great memories for you! Look out for my next post on New Year's Day where I'll be sharing my latest DIY projects, resolutions and much more.

xoxo,
