Monday Afternoon Blues.
WHEN A THEORETICAL EXERCISE TURNS INTO OUR WORST NIGHTMARE.
That's how I felt waking up on Wednesday morning to my new dreadful reality. I'm not going to spend too much time dwelling because there's so much work to be done and I see this as nothing but a good opportunity to expand my blog, my knowledge and my reach. More now than ever, we have to be educated and aware. Be protected and peaceful all in one. And on a brighter note,
I STARTED MY NEW JOB AT THE URBAN INSTITUTE ON WEDNESDAY!
And this is how I felt but I pushed through because I had no choice.
I am officially a Digital Production Specialist and salary- employed. My first big girl, out of college, still trying to find myself- job. It's perfect. Right in the heart of downtown DC. The staff is amazing and my work space is comforting. I'm glad I took my time and found a position fit for me. Even after seeking for only three months, I'm blessed to be in the position I am in. I can only go up from here! I know the struggle of finding a job post- college can be tough but hang in there and stay committed! When I was job seeking, I created a whole book where I tracked where I applied to, the date, and all the important details. Maybe it's the journalist and organizational aspects of me but it clearly worked, so maybe it can work for you too. I'm excited to wake up in the morning and go to work every day, that's an incredible feeling!
Prime Time Power Rankings:
Grey's Anatomy- All hail the Grey's Anatomy Gods because the latest episodes have had me on my toes but this episode brought me to full on tears. When they did the Derek cameo, I just couldn't contain myself and how creative was the production in this episode?! It seemed so real and authentic how they showcased the emotions of a surgeon in the operating room. The entire episode was filmed in the operating room and only ventured off for a few memories. That was a bold move but it was perfect timing in this season. Thank you for bringing that special emotional element back.
How to Get Away with Murder- Is Nate under the sheet?! I'm dying to know but also highly glad it's not Wes.
Quantico- WOW LYDIA. She played Alex so smooth. I was so disappointed yet intrigued and surprised all at the same time. What's on the drives? Are there two enemies? It doesn't seem like Lydia's working with the terrorists but I guess we will find out in time.
Once Upon A Time- A new sleeping curse? Good one Evil Queen. I'm impressed.
Designated Survivor- I really hope they don't make that Republican VP...that is all.
Conviction- Way to tackle sexual orientation. We often see shows where kids murder their parents because they find them as a burden but the way Conviction tackled this was different. I enjoyed it.
V a m p i r e D i a r i e s .
Yes, the rumors are true, I am finally caught up! Well almost. I am catching up on the first few episodes of season eight and if I am feeling up to it, I'll be caught up by Friday to watch it in real time. We will see. Can we talk about season seven though! Caroline and Alaric engaged? Enzo and Bonnie in love? The Armory? A SIREN?! This magical realm just keeps growing. I'm impressed and so ready for Elena to return. Nina Dobrev better come with some fire. And side note, I think it's cool how they made Katherine Bulgarian when Nina Dobrev is Bulgarian- Canadian in real life. Nice cultural cameo they did there.
Half of my prime time shows are ending this week but that'll just make room for more exploration so please, keep up with the suggestions!
The Magicians returns on January 25th. I cannot wait! If you haven't watched the first season, get to it now. It's different but so good.
As always, it's been a pleasure and remember, stay motivated and stay focused.
xoxo,
Mich.
